It's easy to celebrate the finished product—a book release, a successful keynote, a new community, or the final episode of a podcast season.
What people don't always see are the months of intentional work that happen before those milestones ever become visible.
This week has been filled with exciting moments for me.
The release of Dear Dad, the launch of my new leadership community, and wrapping up Season 3 of my podcast have given me an opportunity to reflect.
None of those happened by accident.
They are the result of hundreds of small, intentional decisions made over time.
The same is true of organizational culture.
Culture Isn't Created During the Crisis
Many organizations begin talking about culture only after something has gone wrong.
Communication breaks down.
Employees leave.
Morale declines.
Trust erodes.
But by then, culture has already been taking shape for months—or even years.
Culture isn't created during the crisis.
It's revealed during the crisis.
Instead, culture is built every day through conversations, expectations, recognition, accountability, and the consistency of leadership.
The Small Moments Matter
As leaders, we sometimes underestimate the impact of ordinary moments.
The way we greet someone.
The feedback we provide.
The questions we ask.
The meetings we lead.
The promises we keep.
Every interaction communicates what matters.
Over time, those interactions become the culture people experience.
What I've Been Building
As I've worked on launching the Do Good Leadership Community, recording another season of my podcast, and sharing stories through Dear Dad, I've realized that every one of these projects has the same purpose.
Creating spaces where people feel seen.
Heard.
Valued.
Encouraged.
Supported.
Whether I'm speaking on a stage, facilitating a workshop, recording a podcast, or connecting with leaders online, the mission remains the same:
Helping leaders create cultures on purpose.
Three Questions Every Leader Should Ask
As you begin a new week, consider these questions:
What kind of culture am I creating through my daily actions?
Do my conversations reflect the values I want my team to experience?
What is one intentional action I can take this week to strengthen my culture?
Leadership isn't measured only by the big decisions.
It's measured by the consistency of the small ones.
Closing
Every conversation matters.
Every interaction matters.
Every decision matters.
Culture isn't something we hope happens.
It's something we intentionally create.
One conversation.
One relationship.
One decision at a time.
Together, let's create cultures on purpose.
Lead intentionally. Communicate clearly. Create culture on purpose.
