Behind the Work

About Dr. Stephanie Duguid

Leadership Is Human. Culture Is Shaped by How We Lead.

I’m Dr. Stephanie Duguid, founder of Do Good Leadership and a Leadership Culture Strategist.

For more than three decades, I have worked across education, executive leadership, professional development, sports medicine, and organizational change.

Throughout my career, I have seen how leadership communication, expectations, workplace systems, and everyday behavior shape trust, performance, and culture.

Today, I help organizations strengthen leadership communication, improve alignment, and address the conditions contributing to burnout, disengagement, conflict, and unwanted turnover.

Looking Beyond the Symptoms

My background in athletic training taught me to look beyond the visible symptom and identify the conditions contributing to the problem.

I bring that same perspective to organizations.

Communication breakdowns, burnout, leadership friction, and employee disconnection rarely exist in isolation. They often point to deeper patterns involving unclear expectations, inconsistent messages, unresolved conflict, or unsustainable ways of working.

Through keynotes, leadership development, facilitated conversations, and strategic partnerships, I help leaders recognize those patterns and make practical changes that strengthen both people and sustainable performance.

.That same systems thinking is why I call my framework The Culture Engine™. In athletic training, no single muscle or joint works in isolation — the whole system has to run together, or performance breaks down somewhere else. Culture works the same way. That's the thinking behind the four drivers at the center of everything I do: Clarity, Connection, Communication, and Consistency.

How I Think About Culture

I believe culture isn't accidental — it's engineered.

Four connected drivers sit at the center of my work:

None of these work alone. When one weakens, the others compensate for a while — until they can't.

My work is helping leaders strengthen all four, together, on purpose.

When something's off, I use a simple diagnostic loop I call The Leadership Mechanic™ to find the one adjustment that matters most — rather than trying to fix everything at once.

A Practical, People-Centered Approach

I believe leadership development should do more than inspire. Leaders need practical tools they can use to communicate clearly, navigate difficult conversations, establish accountability, and guide their teams through change.

I also believe organizations should not have to choose between strong performance and human-centered leadership. People can be held accountable without being diminished. Difficult conversations can be direct without becoming destructive. High expectations can coexist with empathy. That balance is central to how I work.

That balance is what Conscious Leadership means at the center of the Culture Engine, leading with self-awareness, not just authority.

More Than My Professional Roles

I am also a wife, mother, former collegiate athlete, educator, author, speaker, podcast host, and lifelong learner.

These experiences have shaped how I understand teamwork, resilience, responsibility, and connection.

They have also reinforced my belief that leadership is expressed most clearly in everyday moments—through the way people communicate, respond to challenges, and support one another.

That belief is at the heart of Do Good Leadership: helping leaders communicate with intention, lead with consistency, and create workplace cultures where people and performance can thrive.

Let’s Begin with a Conversation

Every organization has a different context, culture, and set of challenges.

An initial conversation provides an opportunity to explore what your organization is experiencing, what you want to strengthen, and the type of support that may be most effective.
