Running your own business in the world of educational leadership is equal parts purpose, passion, and pivoting. And let’s be honest — it’s not for the faint of heart. As I sit on the edge of launching a brand-new website, releasing exciting new content, expanding into fresh opportunities, and preparing to share my upcoming book with the world, I’m feeling all the things: joy, anticipation, nerves, and yes — a little fear.
This transition season is full of “new.” New looks. New resources. New audiences. New offers. And with that newness comes a very human question: Will they like it?
Will they see the heart I’ve poured into this?
Will it connect?
Will it make a difference?
If you’ve ever led anything with your whole heart — a classroom, a team, a business, a dream — then you know this exact feeling. That nervous excitement that bubbles just under the surface. That fear that sometimes whispers, What if they don’t get it? or What if I’m not enough?
But here’s what I’ve learned — fear is simply being afraid of the unknown. And when we show up in our authenticity, we shrink fear’s power.
The truth is, not everyone will “get” you.
Not everyone will cheer you on.
Some will misunderstand your message, misinterpret your passion, or scroll right past your offerings. But that’s okay.
Because leadership — real, bold, authentic leadership — is not about being accepted by everyone. It’s about being aligned with yourself.
I’ve had to remind myself lately: Be proud of what you’ve built. Be proud of the message you’re sharing. Be proud of the growth, the grit, and the grace it took to get here. And keep going.
Running this business has stretched me in ways I never imagined. I’ve had to wear all the hats — strategist, content creator, speaker, coach, dreamer, and doer. I’ve felt unfocused at times, overwhelmed by busyness, tempted to chase “done” instead of “meaningful.” But in the chaos, I always return to this truth:
You are not here to please everyone. You are here to serve with purpose.
So if you’re walking through a season of change, too — a new idea, a launch, a pivot, or even a fresh chapter in your life or career — know this: You are allowed to feel both scared and ready. You are allowed to celebrate and worry. And you are most definitely allowed to be proud.
Be your authentic self. Lead from your core. And let the rest unfold.
And if you need a reminder — or someone in your corner — come find me. I’ll be the one cheering you on, reminding you to stay rooted in who you are, and helping you lead with courage.
Because leadership isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being present, being purposeful, and being unapologetically YOU.
Stay tuned — exciting things are ahead. And I can’t wait to share them with you.
